Connecticut-based Lice Treatment Center to Conduct Lice Technician Certification Training January 10-11, 2015

Connecticut-based Lice Treatment Center For Lice Training

MONROE, Conn. – The Lice Treatment Center LLC, the nation’s leading lice removal company, is offering another round of its highly praised Lice Technician Certification training for individuals interested in becoming a lice treatment technician or starting a lice treatment and removal business.

The LTC-sponsored training will be held Saturday and Sunday, January 10-11, 2015, at the Lice Treatment Center’s main facility in Monroe, Connecticut. Deadline for registration is Friday, January 2, 2015. For more information about the training and LTC services and products, click here.

“Lice removal companies have literally quadrupled in the last few years due to the head-lice uptick taking place in schools and homes,” contends Elizabeth Solovay, a co-founder of the Lice Treatment Center. “We developed our certification training to give individuals the opportunity to become optimally trained for entering one of our nation’s fastest growing industries.”

LTC launched the nation’s first Lice Technician Certification Program in 2013 to address the growing epidemic of head lice infestations in the United States. Due to the emergence of so-called “super lice” that are becoming resistant to many removal products, infestations of head lice appear to be increasing. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that from six to twelve million children in our country will contract head lice this year alone.

A Yale University graduate, Solovay founded her lice treatment and prevention business in partnership with Dr. Elin Cohen, a board-certified pediatrician, when neither woman could find effective products or resources for controlling infestations in their own children.

Cohen used her medical background to develop a line of lice treatment and prevention products under the brand names Jolis Cheveux™ by LTC and Lice Insurance™ which are currently manufactured and distributed by the Lice Treatment Center®. The Connecticut State Department of Developmental Services has commended the products for their effectiveness in the lice treatment of agency clients. The products are also being sold in select Walgreens stores.

The LTC Training Certification Program is comprised of two intensive day-long sessions that includes both interactive classroom work and hands-on training for treatment skills. The training applies the same proprietary curriculum used internally to teach LTC's own professional lice technicians. During sessions, students learn the most effective methods and products for stopping head lice in children and adults. They also gain experience inspecting, identifying, and combing out lice, nymphs and nits from both salon-quality mannequins and live human subjects.
